Walter "Oss" Saulman Obituary (1917

Corydon, IN Walter 'Ossie' Saulman, 94, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Indian Creek Convalescent Center. He was born in Corydon on November 13, 1917, the son of the late Oscar and Mary Viola Shickles Saulman. He was a member of the Corydon Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a former member of the Corydon and Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Depts from 1946-1983. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific as an amphibious engineer. He was a former owner of trotters and pacers and thoroughbred race horses. He was a retired manager of the L&N railroad and truck line. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Saulman and stepson Donnie Schuppert, one brother, Earl Saulman, and 3 sisters, Gladys Duley, Myrtle Kingsley and Katherine Satterfield. Survivors include a step-son, John Schuppert of Winston-Salem, North Carolina A step-granddaughter Holly Hager of Newport News, Virginia A step-daughter in law Sharon Schuppert of Louisville, Kentucky A sister Anna Jane Razor of Georgetown 2 Brothers Donald and Gerald Saulman of Corydon Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Visitation will be from 12-8 Thursday and after 9 AM Friday. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Corydon Christian Church-Disciples of Christ.
