Roscoe E. Shewmaker Obituary (1917 - 2016)

Corydon, Indiana Roscoe Eugene Shewmaker, Sr., 98, of Corydon, passed away on June 28, 2016 at Kindred Indian Creek Health and Rehab Center. He was born on December 13, 1917 in Laconia, IN the son of Joshua and Clara Whals Shewmaker. He retired from Keller Manufacturing. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church. He taught his children and grandchildren to fish with a cane pole, to milk a cow or goat, that anything on a farm can be fixed with bailer twine or duct tape and to always save room for dessert. He greeted every lady with a smile or a grin depending on how cute. He greeted every man with a firm handshake or good cussing! He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Golda Shewmaker and his sons Roscoe Shewmaker Jr and Robert Shewmaker. He is survived by his son Richard Shewmaker; 6 grandchildren Ronald Shewmaker, Roger Shewmaker, Randy Shewmaker, Rhonda McAdams, Jacqueine Martin, and Gibriel Shewmaker; and 11 great grandchildren. We would like to say thank you to his amazing nurses, friends, and caretakers from Willows assisted living and Kindred Indian Creek nursing home. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 4PM to 7PM at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral home in Corydon, IN. The funeral will be at 11AM on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the funeral home. Father Rob Hankee will officiate. Burial will follow at Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery in New Middletown, IN. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory to St Joseph Catholic Church, American Cancer society, or the Alzheimers Association.
