Robert Owen Graddy, 90 passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, at home with his family by his side. He was born Feb 19, 1936, the son of Owen Graddy and Alma Berry Graddy.
He was a devoted and faithful member of Mt. Zion Church, where he served in many different roles throughout the years. His faith was an important part of his life, and when the church was destroyed by fire, he proudly helped with the rebuilding efforts. Throughout his working years, he held several different positions, including working in a tobacco factory and as a security guard. He also had a love for cooking, working as a cook in his early years and serving as a cook while in the Army Reserves before later cooking at Jerry’s. At home, he enjoyed working in his garden, and mowing the yard was his peaceful place. Above all, he was deeply devoted to his wife, whom he loved dearly, and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. A man of strong faith and a caring heart, he was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings: Lucille, Nannie, Elisha, Elmyra, J.D., Catherine, Charles, Doshia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Graddy, 3 Children: Timothy Graddy, Michelle Renee Graddy, Shawna Beauchamp (Jerry), six grandchildren: Christopher, Kathryn, Olivia, Jackson, Trevor (Jathany), Ashley (Dylan), four great grandchildren: Maya, Christian, Serenity, Ariel, two siblings: Nora and Mae, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, many former foster children, and extended family.
