Loretta Whitlow

Loretta Louise Whitlow (Hess) passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026 at the age of 82. She was born on February 28, 1944, the daughter of Clarence Hess and Louise Raeuchle Hess.

She loved spending time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she always enjoyed wearing matching shirts with those she loved. She could often be found relaxing on the back porch watching her hummingbirds or enjoying quilting and crafting. She had a special love for farm life and especially enjoyed her Oliver tractor while baling straw and her combine while harvesting corn, soybeans, and wheat. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the New Middletown Homemakers and was a lifetime member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. She devoted many years to helping young people in her community, serving 18 years as a Girl Scout leader for Troop 785 and 11 years as a 4-H leader. She also worked for Walmart for 15 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband , Phil Whitlow, brothers: Roy and Walter Hess.

She is survived by her four children: Cathy (Bob) Passarella, Vicke (Stacy) Taylor, Eric Whitlow, and Richard (Amy) Whitlow, her eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, her four siblings, and other extended family and friends.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home (318 East Chestnut Street, Corydon, Indiana 47112).

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until funeral time of 2:00 PM, all on Monday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, The family request memorial gifts be made to: Most Precious Blood Cemetery Fund OR The American Heart Association.
