Loretta F. Backherms Obituary (1932 - 2021)

Loretta F. Backherms, 89 passed away on Thursday July 22, 2021, at Baptist Hospital Floyd surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1932, in Georgetown, Indiana to Eugene and Elma Meriwether Herthel. She was an administrative assistant at Chester B Stem Corporation and Armor Star before she became a full-time mom and homemaker. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Georgetown and most recently attended Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Georgetown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband of 65 years Jack Backherms, infant daughter Jacqueline and brother Ray Herthel. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Knable (Nick) of Sellersburg Indiana, granddaughters Chelsea Stout (Zach), Alissa Bennett (Solomon), Bailey Knable (Jared Santana) and great grandchildren Xavier and Xander Stout and Shiloh Bennett. Funeral service will be at 11 AM Monday, July 26, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, IN. Burial will be in Wolfe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 PM to 5 PM Sunday, July 25, 2021, and from 10 AM to 11 AM Monday also at the funeral home.
