Linda Ruth Byrd

Linda Ruth Byrd, 71, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. She was born February 15, 1950, in Chevrolet, KY the daughter of Bill and Ruth Darlene Boyles Johnson. Linda was a graduate of Dupont Manual High School and Spencerian Business College. She retired from Smith Furniture in New Albany, IN in 2000. Linda led a Christian life and was a lifetime member of Eastern Parkway Baptist Church. She supported many charities and animal rescue organizations. She moved to Harrison County, IN in 1996, to a farm where she loved and cared for the animal life there. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her stepson, Sean Byrd. She is survived by her loving husband Jacky Byrd of Palmyra, IN; daughter Cindy Hills (David) and granddaughter Macy Hills all of Ackworth, GA; stepson, Craig Byrd of Daniels, KY; brother, Bill Ray Johnson of Harlan, KY, 12 stepgrandchildren, a large extended family in Harlan, KY and a loving friend of Pam, Michael and Lilly. All that have passed will surely greet her at Heaven's gate. Funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. Burial will be in Central Barren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM to 8 PM Wednesday December 29, 2021, and from 10 AM to 1 PM on Thursday also at the funeral home in Corydon. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Harrison County Animal Control.
