Joy Janes

Joy Janes, born Joy Aileen Carman on July 4, 1953, in Highland, Ohio, was a beacon of unwavering light in the lives of many. Joy was a woman who truly lived up to her name, spreading joy and happiness wherever she went. She was a woman of many passions, from her love of reading and gardening to her adoration for wind chimes and the music of Elvis Presley. She was a long-time employee at JayCee Bakery in Corydon, Indiana, where her warm spirit and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure in the community. An avid casino-goer, Joy never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. Most importantly, she cherished her family above all and had a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs.

Joy was predeceased by her parents, Myron and Gertrude Carman, her husband, Gerald Janes, and her sons, Timothy and Jason Newman. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Wanda, Donna, and Larry. Joy's memory will be carried forward by her surviving siblings, Jude, June, Phyllis, Gale, Tina, and Willis Carman, and her companion, Danny Jackson.

Joy is survived by her loving children, Suzanna Williams, Michelle Floyd, Scott Newman, and Stacey Allen, along with their respective partners, Ken Williams, Shane Floyd, Cindy Newman, and Donny Ray. She also leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends and well-wishers at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home (318 East Chestnut Street, Corydon, Indiana 47112) on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 12:00 pm EDT and again on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 10:00 am EDT. A service to honor and remember Joy will be held at the same location on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 12:00 pm EDT.
