John L. Olges Obituary (1935 - 2023)

Corydon, Indiana John L. Olges, 88, passed away, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at his home. He was born May 9, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Minnie Prewitt Olges. He was a retiree from GE where he worked for 41 years in maintenance. He recently celebrated his 32nd wedding anniversary with his beloved wife Mary. John will be remembered by thousands of Catholics throughout the world as they pray with one of his handmade rosaries. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, John L. Olges Jr., and Stephen Olges, daughter, Kelly Brison, and brother, Joseph Olges. He is survived by his wife, Mary Vick Olges, children, Michael Olges, of Harrodsburg, IN., Mark Olges (Margaret), of Maine, Lisa Cobb (Kevin), of Floyd Knobs, IN., Terri Harless, of Tennessee, John Rizer, of New Albany, IN., Joe Rizer, of Lexington, KY., and Susan Rizer, of Pleasant Hill, CA., sisters, Mary Murphy, of Louisville, KY., Ruth Fogle (Ronnie), of Louisville, KY., and Roberta Coomes (Dick), of Prospect, KY., 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, IN. Father Kyle Rodden will preside. Visitation will be from 12 PM to 8 PM Monday, July 31, 2023, and from 9 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, Indiana. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
