James Emily

James Ray Emily, 78, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026 at Norton Hospital Downtown. He was born February 11, 1948 in Corydon, Indiana the son of Martin Edward and Mildred Madge Taylor Emily. He was a Digital Switchman for Verizon in Corydon, IN, was Past Master of Masonic Lodge # 32 and was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lee, Frank, David and Ernie Emily; sisters,Wanda Wolf, Linda Mae Emily and Mary Dyer. He is survived by his wife, Kathie Lillpop Emily of Corydon, IN, children, Michelle "Micky" (Matthew) Miller of Corydon, IN, Martin "Marty" Emily of Jeffersonville, IN, stepdaughter, Jayme (Brian) Schreck of Corydon, IN; grandchildren, Clayton (Claire) Schreck and Sydnie Schreck; brothers, Steve Emily of Lake Wales, FL, Tom (June) Emily and Randy Emily all of Corydon, IN; sisters, Shirley (John) Ferriell of Corydon, IN, Lola Watson of Floyds Knobs, IN, Connie (Paul) Garmon of Central, IN. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN and visitation will be from 11 AM until the service at 4 PM also at the funeral Home. Pastor Allen Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Military Honors at the grave. There will be Masonic Rites at 3:45 PM will precede the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Matthew Miller, Michael Emily, Brian Schreck, Clayton Schreck, Steve Emily and Tom Emily and Honorary Pallbearers will be Phillip Emily and Willie Fulkerson.
