G. Carlton Watson Obituary (1936 - 2024)

Corydon, Indiana G. Carlton Watson, 87, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born December 29, 1936, the son of Glendia and Anna Duley Watson. He was a former employee of the A&P Grocery in Corydon and Louisville. He was also a former bus driver for South Harrison School Corporation for 32 years, and for 8 years was the trustee for Harrison Township and precinct committeeman. Carlton was an antique dealer and loved sports, especially when his kids were participating. He was a gospel singer and was a member of the Heidelberg Quartet. He was a member of the Pisgah Masonic Lodge #32 and he was honored and received the award for being a Past Master for 50 years in 2015. He was also a member and officer of the Hoosier Knobs Car Club. Carlton was a loving family man. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kent Alan Watson, brother, Donald Watson, and sister, Kathleen Wiseman. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Windell Watson, of Corydon, Indiana, one son, Ronald G. Watson (Kristie), of Indianapolis, Indiana, one daughter, Sharon "Sherry" Mathes, of Corydon, Indiana, daughter-in-law Sherry Bishop Watson of Corydon, IN; grandchildren, Josh Mathes (Beth), Laura Tinsley (Ryan), Rebecca Winebarger (Lloyd), Allie Watson Waltz (Nick), Peyton Watson, Jordan Watson (Kaylee), Josh Rowley (Brittany), and Jason Rowley (Whitney), and great grandchildren, Addison & Jenna Mathes, Savannah & Harrison Tinsley, and Stella Applegate. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. Pastor Chuck Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Heidelberg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, and on Thursday from 11 AM until the service, all at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to either Heidelberg Church, 2122 S. Heidelberg Rd.
