Franz Joseph Felten Obituary (1936 - 2018)

Corydon, Indiana Franz Joseph Felten, 82, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. He was born January 15, 1936 in Louisville, KY the son of William and Hedwig Zoeller Felten. He received a B.A. from Bellarmine College in Louisville in 1963 and a Masters Degree with a math endorsement from Indiana University. He retired from teaching in 2000 from North Harrison High School and was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, IN and was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1808 Council. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Era, a member of the National Rifle Association, was an avid reader and enjoyed farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Matthew Michael Karl Felten. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Martha Hornung Felten whom he married on August 18, 1962; five sons, John Joseph Felten of Thrapston, England, William Charles Felten (Amanda) of New Salisbury, IN, Frederick Franz Felten (Jennifer) of Thousand Oaks, CA, James Martin Felten (Carmen) of Corydon, IN and Albert Edward Felten (Vanessa) of Lafayette, IN; four daughters Mary Arkless (Christopher) of Aberdeen, Scotland, Carol Ann Wright of Hastings, FL, Rose Kleindl (Paul) of Lebanon, IN, and Catherine Josephine Felten of Rochester, NY; one brother, John James Felten (Catherine) of Chapel Hill, NC; two sisters, Marie Parker of Indianapolis, IN and Rosemary Clark (Russell) of Georgetown, IN and fourteen grandchildren. A mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, IN. Father Bob St. Martin will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM Thursday, June 14, 2018 and 9 AM to 10 AM Friday at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, Indiana. There will be a Rosary service on Thursday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home in Corydon.
