Francis Xavier Fey, Sr. Obituary (1927

Corydon, Indiana Francis Xavier Fey, Sr., 83 passed away at his home in Corydon on Friday, March 25, 2011. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on October 30, 1927 the son of Leonard Thomas and Rosella F. Senn Fey. He moved to Corydon from Louisville in 1949. As a young man he was known for his athletic ability on the baseball and football fields. He was asked by George Miller, a scout for the Chicago Bears, to try out for the football team. His father, a farmer, told him 'to get back in the farm field and pick beans.' Frank served the U.S. Army for two years, playing on the regimental baseball team. Frank worked hard all of his life to raise seven children along with his wife Alice Josephine 'Fofie' Pflanz Fey who survives him. Frank worked at Keller Manufacturing Company in Corydon, raised broiler chickens, was a farmer and eventually became owner and operator of Frank Fey Builders. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, where he was an usher since 1951 and served on the cemetery committee. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Jarrod Schroeder and his sister, Doll Rose Fey Woosley. He is survived by his Wife- Fofie, and their children, Marcia, Frank, Jr., Mary, Malia, Tom, Joseph and Maureen, 19 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10AM Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 512 N. Mulberry St. Corydon, IN. Burial will be in the church cemetery and there will be military rites at the grave. Visitation will be held at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home at 318 E. Chestnut St. in Corydon on Sunday from 11AM to 8 PM and after 8 AM on Monday. There will be a Rosary service held on Sunday evening at the funeral home at 7 PM. Pallbearers will be Tyson, Andres, John and Quinton Schroeder, Eric Rose, Tommy, Joe and Nathan Fey. The family requests no live flowers due to extreme asthma and allergies in the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to be made to his church or to the American Heart Association.
