Dean Michael Janes

Dean Janes, 1 passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was born on Thursday January 9, 2025, the son of Brandon Janes and Tiera Dean.

Despite the health challenges Dean faced from birth, his spirit remained remarkably bright. A resilient soul, he met every hospital stay and surgery with a brave heart and a smile that never faded. He was known for his striking blue eyes and the hair everyone couldn't help but admire. Dean was the perfect image of his father, though he shared an inseparable bond with his mother. To know Dean was to know his "scream-laugh"—a joyful, exuberant sound that filled the room. He was a happy baby who had recently discovered a love for suckers and a zest for life that inspired everyone who met him.

He is preceded in death by grandmother: Catrina Anderson, great uncle, Chris Anderson, Great grandfather, Mark Anderson, Great Great Grandparents: Glenda Gehlbach & Kenneth Gehlbach.

He is survived by his loving parents, grandfather, Josh Dean, grandmother, Shana Lyons, as well many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home (318 East Chestnut Street, Corydon, Indiana 47112).

Memorial visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the service time of 5:00 PM, at the funeral home on Friday.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial gifts be made to Norton Children's Hospital.
