Cathy McFarland

With profound sadness, we announce that Cathy McFarland, a loving and devoted sister, mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched, passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2026. Born to Joseph and Edith Meriwether on February 25th, 1954, in New Albany, Indiana, Cathy lived a life filled with joy, compassion, and an unyielding zest for life. She was 71 years young.

Blessed with a green thumb, Cathy could turn any patch of soil into a flourishing garden. Her house was always filled with plants, each nurtured and cherished like a family member. Her love for nature was only matched by her love for her cats and rock music. Cathy was known to dance and sing along to her favorite bands, spreading her infectious energy and joy to those around her, making even the ordinary moments unforgettable. Her light and love were a beacon to all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire us.

Cathy is survived by her siblings Judy Young, Larry, Gary, and Tony (Cherry) Meriwether, and Sharon Traughber. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Mark McFarland, and her parents Joseph and Edith Meriwether. A visitation for Cathy will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home - Georgetown, located at 7420 Indiana 64, Georgetown, Indiana, 47122. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 PM.
